Can people with Dental Implants get MRI Scanning done?

MRI is a diagnostic imaging tool that uses powerful magnets, radio waves, and computer systems to provide detailed images of the internal parts of our body. Since powerful magnets are used in MRI, no ferromagnetic metal items are allowed in the scanning room. That is why people with metallic implants like, pacemaker implants, cochlear implants are not allowed during the scan. Even metal jewelry like earrings, necklaces, piercings should be removed before undergoing the scan. But are people with Dental implants not allowed to take MRI?

Absolutely not! Today's Dental Implants are made with alloys of titanium or zirconia materials. These materials are not ferromagnetic and thus they do not interfere or influence the outcome of the MRI. However, it is advisable to inform your doctor before starting the MRI scan as a precaution.
